Walking the Stanley Park Seawall

September 27, 2004 - The 8.8 kilometer seawall is Stanley Park's most scenic and popular walking/biking/blading route. Though it took over 60 years to complete, starting in 1917, much of its incremental progress was overseen by Park Board Master Stone Mason James Cunningham from the late 1920s until his retirement some 35 years later. A plaque commemorating Cunningham's dedication can be seen in the rock face above the wall at Siwash Rock.

Third Beach: Stanley Park at Ferguson Point

One of Vancouver's naturally sandy beaches located far from the madding crowd yet so close to the downtown core. Stanley Park's forest looms behind this nearly hidden treasure of a spot shielding dippers and tanners from urban noise. Great spot for quiet bathing, picnic suppers and sunsets.

說明：
溫哥華市史丹利公園 (Stanley Park)的海牆步道(Seawall) 為環繞於外圍公園的水泥步道，全長八公里，建於1963年 。海牆步道蜿蜒曲折，從第二海灘到第三海灘約一公里半，行經弗更生岬(Ferguson Point)。它好比一道護城牆 ，維護著史丹利公園的海岸，免於遭受海浪的侵蝕。

史丹利公園為典型岩岸生態。冬季時節，退潮時刻，沙石露出水面，各種濱鳥紛紛飛來覓食。這種滿佈藤壺與青口的岩岸擁有各種海生昆蟲，常吸引來一些特別的濱鳥，如黑蠣鷸(Oystercatcher)、黑翻石鷸(Turnstone)、三趾鷸(Sanderling)等。往外海望去，我們也不難發現各種潛鳥(Loons)、紅胸秋沙鴨(Merganser)，以及西部鷿鷈(Grebe)。英吉利海灣附近可見美洲葡萄胸鴨(Wigeon)、丑鴨(Harlequin Duck)、各種海鷗(Gull)、巴洛氏金眼鴨(Goldeneye)、以及上百成千成群的海番鴨(Scoter)。

海牆步道為環繞於史丹利公園的外圍水泥步道，蜿蜒曲折，視野遼闊，風景優美。從弗更生岬(Ferguson Point)到賽瓦須(Siwash)石筍約一公里，將行經第三海灘與典雅的茶園。您可以到那裡飲英國茶，看海景與夕陽。
