Richmond McDonald Beach Park

McDonald Beach is located at the North Arm of Fraser River Estuary. There are slough, inter-tidal flat,
beach, marsh, grassland, ditches, and floodplain deciduous forest. These diverse eco-systems attract many wildlife including insects, birds, ducks, mammals, fish and predators. The nearby land inside the dyke is
declared and protected by Canadian Wildlife Services as Sea Island Conservation Area. This is one of the best places for people to jog, walk, walk the dog, and watch sunset.
McDonald Beach park is named after
the McDonald family who once resided there. Duncan McDonald was one of the first residents on sea Island.
Directions: From Marine Drive into the Vancouver Airport, then turn right at the first traffic light to Templeton Rd, forward to the sign of McDonald Beach, turn right and drive to the end parking lot.

海島生態保育區 (Sea Island Conservation Area, SICA)
集合：越過溫哥華的Arthur Laing橋前往機場，到第一個紅綠燈Templeton街右轉北行，接Ferguson Rd左轉西行，看到MacDonald Beach指標右轉直行到底公園停車場告示牌
麥當勞海灘位於菲沙河北支出口，有溼地，草原與沙灘，以及潮間帶淺灘。這裡多樣化的棲息地以及豐富的河
口生物生態，吸引許多野鳥來此覓食。加拿大野生動物保育局已將附近溼地列為海島生態保育區(Sea Island Conservation Area, SICA)。這也是黃昏散步的好地方。
河流中你可以看見多種水鳥，通常河岸的水鴨子多為覓食植物根莖與種子的戲水鴨(Dabbler)；或潛水的潛水鴨，如上述小型潛鳥。而河流中央則為深水潛水鳥，如西方鷿鷈(Grebe)、潛鳥(Loon)、鸕鶿(Cormorant)，以及來
自鹼水海域的紅胸秋沙鴨(Red-Breasted Merganser)，當然也包括常見的各種海鷗(Gull)，它們是雜食性的動物。每年的春天，菲沙河的中支河口處，總有數以百萬隻的Eulachon魚遷移至河口處產卵。其中一種獵食者為海
獅(Sea Lion)常可見成群出沒於河中Swishwash海島附近捕食，還有白頭鵰(Bald Eagle)與燕鷗(Tern)，以及以上所提到的深水潛鳥之一的紅胸秋沙鴨。
