Garry Point Park, Richmond
(Chinese)

Garry Point, located at 12015 7th Avenue (West end of Chatham Street), provides for spectacular views of the Fraser River and the Gulf Islands. Located close to Steveston's historic fishing village, this large waterfront park features a fisherman's memorial. Park has Historic Docks, Japanese Garden, Picnic Tables, Concession Stand, ublic Art, Restrooms, Walking Paths, and you can Kite Flying.

Scotch Pond consists of a pond, originally a slough, dredged in the early 1950s and connected by a channel to the Strait of Georgia. Along with the pond are the remains of wooden boardwalk pilings which run directly along the south edge of the pond and were constructed in 1899 as part of the Scottish Canadian Cannery operation. The Pond is located on Garry Point Park in the tidal flats of Sturgeon Bank, on a line that is a western extension of Chatham Street.

Garry Point Cannery
In 1880 Manoah Steves' son, William Herbert Steves, bought 160 acres west of Number 1 Road between Steveston Highway and Chatham Street with a mortgage from B.C. Lands and Investment. He borrowed an additional $41,000 at 12% interest to buy the 55 acres of waterfront south of Chatham Street and began to develop the townsite known as "Steves". Herbert Steves and Marshall English, who owned waterfront land immediately east of Number 1 Road, built a wharf called Steves' Landing or City Wharf at the end of Second Avenue.
