Amidst the hustle and bustle of light industry, highways and residential living lies Burnaby Lake Regional Park. In spite of all the nearby activity this 300-hectare nature park in Burnaby's Central Valley supports a healthy second growth deciduous forest with patches of conifers and a few notable mature sitka spruce.

There is a myriad of wildlife from shy coyotes and ever-active beavers, to gaggles of geese and tiny chickadees.

The marsh edges, forest and lake are important feeding and nesting habitats for wildlife. Catch a glimpse of, and perhaps photograph animals in these protected areas. Level walking trails, flat water for canoeing, and many birding sites, offer hours of relaxation at this calm oasis in the middle of the city.

由七號 Longheed公路，接本拿比北側Winston St. ，至Piper Ave.南行至公園停車場，在自然教室(Nature House)前集合。

本拿比湖地區域公園（Burnaby Lake Regional Park）位於本拿比市區中心，周圍環繞著輕工業、高速公路與居家社區。這個佔地三百公頃的自然公園，擁有健康的次生森林，包括赤楊木(Red Alder)、白樺樹(Paper Birch)、三角葉楊木(Cottonwood)，以及成熟的錫達卡雲杉(Sitka Spruce)，還有各種野生動物，如害羞的野狼(Coyote)，活潑的水狸(Beaver)，聒噪的加拿大雁(Canada Geese)，以及小巧的黑頭山雀(Black-capped Chickadee)。在這公園內，您可以感受到微風輕輕吹拂過樹梢，小鳥在綠蔭的樹枝跳躍，爬上觀望台眺望野鴨悠遊於水草之間，坐上獨木舟藏身於水百合與莎草叢中，這是多麼寫意的生活。

本拿比湖地區域公園環形步道長達十公里，步道平坦容易步行，需時約兩小時半。其西方有一靜溪(Still Creek)流入。由於它流過一片褐色的苔蘚濕地，以致湖水呈現黃褐色。湖水由其東方經過布魯內河(Brunette River)，流經新西敏市進入菲沙河，您若仔細觀察，或許您可以看到魚鷹(Osprey)捕捉活魚的精彩鏡頭。四五月，您可以在東北方的水壩處，協助釋放小鮭魚。其西南方有一野生動物救護站。夏天正是各式各樣昆蟲孵化的季節，在公園自然解說員的協助下，我們不難發現許多小昆蟲奇特的生命史，它們也是食物鏈重要的一環，這真是野生動物的天堂。
