Ambleside Park
漫步海邊公園(Chinese)

Ambleside Park was officially designated as a park in 1918 and has been a popular place with both visitors and residents ever since.

West Vancouver’s best known park stretches twenty-four hectares (59 acres) with a wide sandy beach and a 1.2 kilometre (0.75 mile) shoreline walk.

This is an 18 hole, par 3, pitch and putt course which is situated on Ambleside Waterfront. The course is suitable for all players and is open spring and summer from March 1 to October 31 from 9am to dusk and there are reasonable fees for all players.

Of the many trails, the most popular is the seawalk that starts at the foot of 13th Street and ends at the Railway Bridge on the Capilano River.

There are other trails around the duck pond, through the grassy lawns in the dog area and around the sports fields.

Always eagerly awaited by local birders and nature photographers, the Green Heron returns to the park in early April from wintering grounds as far south as Puerto Rico.

It comes north each year to mate, nest and raise its young. It is rare in the Lower Mainland; the pond in Ambleside Park is the only known nesting site on the North Shore.

Ambleside Park is a lovely place to come and enjoy a picnic. You can bring your own food and make use of the many picnic tables, or buy something from the concession booth. There are also barbeques for those who want to cook up a feast, and with washrooms and a children’s playground in the park as well you could stay all day!
